How to enable new file explorer in Windows 10

You may be bored with Windows File Explorer using it for so many years? so here is the hidden File Explorer on Windows 10 with an easy-to-use Windows Explorer to manage the files and folders on your computer with a slick interface. It is one of the areas where Microsoft didn’t make any major changes for several years even though they tried to introduce tab-oriented file explorer earlier. If you have ever used Linux GUI you will agree on the fact that they have far better File Managers with inbuilt tabs and many powerful features.

The new Windows Explorer is a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) that is only available on Windows 10 operating system version – v1703 or later. If you are not sure which version you are using, open the Run command (Windows Key+R) and type in winver to know the details.

The Steps to enable new file explorer in Windows 10

To use the new file explorer on your Windows 10 system, we will have to create a shortcut as follows

  1. Right-click on the black screen on your desktop.
  2. Click on New > Shortcut.
  3. Enter the following text in the text box named “type the location of the item”
explorer shell:AppsFolderc5e2524a-ea46-4f67-841f-6a9465d9d515_cw5n1h2txyewy!App

 

Click “Next” to enter the name for the shortcut and then click “Finish”.

 

The shortcut creation process is now finished. Now, whenever you click on this shortcut, It will open the new File Explorer window .
